Thomas Sully



Sully, Thomas (1783–1872), English-born U.S. portrait painter who studied briefly under Gilbert Stuart. Queen Victoria (1839) and several U.S. presidents sat for him, including Jefferson and Monroe. He also painted the well-known picture Washington's Passage of the Delaware.
