Oscar Straus



Straus, Oscar (1870–1954), Austrian composer of about 50 operettas, notably A Waltz Dream (1907; film, 1926) and The Chocolate Soldier (1908; film, 1941), performed internationally. In the 1930s he wrote a half-dozen Hollywood film scores.
