Star-of-Bethlehem



Star-of-Bethlehem, flower in the lily family. This flower (Ornithogalum umbellatum) assumes a star shape with 6 white petals. It grows from a bulb, which is poisonous. Star-of-Bethlehem flowers have green stripes on their undersides, while the green leaves have white stripes. They bloom in May and June, often in home gardens or window boxes.
