Spitz



Spitz, family of dogs, distinguished by their thick, long coats, curly tails, and pointed ears. Breeds in the spitz family include small dogs, such as the Pomeranian; medium-size dogs, such as the Samoyed and chow chow; and large dogs, such as the Alaskan malamute and Akita. Spitz dogs are native to northern climates in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
