Speech therapy

Speech therapy, detection and correction of speech problems. Speech-language pathologists work with people who, for various reasons, cannot speak at all (asphasiacs), cannot speak clearly or easily, stutter or have a problem with voice pitch or volume. The most common problem dealt with in speech therapy is that of articulation, the way in which sounds are produced. Speech problems may be physical, environmental, or emotional in origin. Many speech-language professionals belong to The American Speech and Hearing Association (founded 1925).
