Speculation



Speculation, practice of entering into business transactions in order to make a quick profit from an anticipated substantial price fluctuation. Speculation is also applied to investment in any undertaking when the risks and the potential profit are both high. Most speculation, however, involves the buying of commodities or stocks and bonds.
