Snow leopard

Snow leopard, or ounce, large mammal (Felis uncia) of the cat family found in central Asia. During the warmer months it lives high in the Tibetan plateau; in winter, it moves south into the valley. Its pale gray fur, which serves as camouflage in the snow, has been much valued by hunters and traders, and the snow leopard is now an endangered species.
