Snapdragon

Snapdragon, plant (genus Antirrhinum) of the figwort family whose flowers have the upper and lower petals pressed together like an animal's jaws. Only strong insects, such as bumblebees, can force their way inside the petals to pollinate the flower, but butterflies can insert their tubular tongues between the “lips” to suck nectar. Snapdragons came from the Mediterranean and are a favorite garden flower.
