Snake dance



Snake dance, religious ceremony of the Hopi tribe of Native Americans in the Southwest. It is part of a larger ceremony held every year to ensure peace, health, and good crops. At the climax of the snake dance, which lasts 9 days, the men hold live rattlesnakes in their mouths as they dance.
