Smuggling

Smuggling, unlawful conveyance of goods or individuals across a border. Legitimate goods are often smuggled to avoid payment of a duty; illegal goods—such as drugs—are smuggled. Nations have varying laws regulating the importation of goods, and penalties vary as well. In the United States, proof of intent is a necessary precondition for conviction.
