Single tax

Single tax, proposed reform that tax on land value should be a government's sole revenue, stated by Henry George in Progress and Poverty (1879). He argued that economic rent of land results from the growth of an economy, not from an individual's effort; therefore, governments are justified in approaching all economic rents, thus eliminating the need for other taxes. The proposal was never enacted in the United States.
