Shreveport



Shreveport (pop. 334,341), city in northwest Louisiana on the Red River, seat of Caddo Parish. A major industrial and agricultural center with more than 250 factories, Shreveport produces primary and fabricated metals, telephones, glassware, timber and wood products, cotton, beef, petroleum products, and natural gas. It is the site of Centenary College (1825), Saint Vincent's Academy, and a branch of Louisiana State University.
