Shetland sheepdog



Shetland sheepdog, small dog, developed (19th century) in the Shetland Islands to herd sheep. Measuring 13–16 in (33–41.6 cm) at the shoulder and weighing about 15 lb (7 kg), the Shetland sheepdog resembles a miniature collie. Agile and hardworking, it can cover great distances without tiring and is also kept as a pet or watchdog.
