Roger Sherman



Sherman, Roger (1721–93), American patriot who helped draft and signed the Declaration of Independence. He was a member of the 1787 Constitutional Convention and, with Oliver Ellsworth, introduced the Connecticut Compromise. He was a member of the House of Representatives (1789–91) and Senate (1791–93) from Connecticut.
