Thomas Sheraton



Sheraton, Thomas (1751–1806), English furniture designer. Sheraton's furniture is noted for its delicacy and simplicity of shape. It may be decorated with inlays, oval or diamond shapes, or classical motifs such as lyres and urns. Sheraton published his designs in The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book (1791–94). His style of furniture was popular in England (1790–1805) and in the United States (1795–1810).
