Charles Sheeler



Sheeler, Charles (1883–1965), U.S. painter and photographer whose linear treatment of architectural forms, interiors, and industrial settings shows the influence of cubism. In 1913, six of Sheeler's paintings were shown at the New York Armory Show, the exhibition that first introduced European modernism to Americans. Among his paintings are Upper Deck (1929) and American Interior (1934).
