Secretary bird

Secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius), tall bird of prey of the dry African plains. It nests in trees but is the only predatory bird to hunt on the ground, using its long legs to stalk and stamp on snakes and other prey. Standing over 40 in (1 m) tall, it is mostly gray above and black below, with a red or orange face. The black feathers that stand out from the back of its head resemble quill pens, thus its name.
