Scopolamine



Scopolamine, or hyoscine, alkaloid drug derived from plants of the Solenaceae (nightshade) family (especially genus Scopolia) and used as a depressant. Toxic unless given in very small quantities, it is administered to control tremors of Parkinson's disease and other disorders, to combat motion sickness, and in combination with morphine, as an analgesic and amnesic drug (reducing pain and inducing forgetfulness) before childbirth or surgery.
