Philip John Schuyler



Schuyler, Philip John (1733–1804), American soldier and politician who served as major-general in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He served three terms in the New York senate between 1780 and 1797, and was one of the first two U.S. senators from New York (1789–91 and 1797–98).
