Schechterv. United States

Schechterv. United States, Supreme Court decision (1935) that ruled unconstitutional the 1933 National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA), an important part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal program. The Schechter Poultry Co. had been convicted of violating an NIRA code regulating interstate commerce. The Court ruled that the NIRA delegated too much legislative power to the U.S. president.
