Ann Rutledge
Rutledge, Ann (c.1813–35), daughter of an innkeeper at New Salem, Ill., where Abraham Lincoln lived 1831–37. Her early death deeply grieved Lincoln, but stories of a romance or even engagement are probably incorrect.
