Rutland



Rutland (pop. 18,436), second largest city in southwestern Vermont. The area of Vermont surrounding Rutland has an economic base in tourism, especially through the ski industry and other recreation derived from the region's forests, water resources, and mountains. The region contains some industry and marble quarries.
