Rutile



Rutile, mineral (TiO2) found in the United States, Brazil, Europe, Australia, and India. It is a red to brown or black crystal. The titanium of this titanium-oxide mineral is refined for use as pigment in white paint. Porcelain as well as coating for welding rods are also colored with rutile.
