Russell Cave National Monument



Russell Cave National Monument, location of artifacts related to pre-Columbian man in northeastern Alabama. This cave offers information about ancient peoples, from a fire built about 9,000 years ago to evidence of human habitation from 3 to 4 centuries ago. As part of the National Parks System, it was made a national monument in 1961.
