Ruhr
Ruhr, important coal-mining and industrial region in Germany, east of the Rhine River, between the valleys of the Ruhr and Lippe rivers. It has more than 30 large cities and towns including Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, and Dortmund.
