Rough Riders



Rough Riders (1st Regiment of U.S. Cavalry Volunteers), unit comprising cowboys, miners, and college athletes among others, organized by Theodore Roosevelt and Leonard Wood (commander of the unit) at the outbreak of the Spanish–American War (1898). They fought mainly in Cuba and are renowned for their success at San Juan Hill.
