Rose chafer

Rose chafer, or rose bug (Macrodactylus subspinosus), beetle found in the eastern and central regions of the United States. The rose chafer feeds on and destroys rose, grape, and apple blossoms. It measures about 1/3 in (8 mm) long, is light brown to gray, and has long legs with tiny spines. Special cultivating techniques used by commercial growers, cloth coverings used by home gardeners, and insecticides used by both help rid plants of these beetles.
