Theodore Roosevelt Jr.



Roosevelt, Theodore, Jr. (1887–1944), U.S. politician, explorer, soldier, and author; son of President Theodore Roosevelt. He participated in the founding of the American Legion (1919). As a politician, he was a representative in the New York Assembly, assistant secretary of the Navy in the 1920s, and governor of Puerto Rico (1929–32). As an explorer he traveled through Asia for the Field Museum and subsequently wrote about his experiences. He wrote other books, including Colonial Policies of the United States (1937). As a soldier he served as a commander in both world wars; he died in France during World War II.
