Romain Rolland



Rolland, Romain (1866–1944), French writer, who won the 1915 Nobel Prize for literature. He is best known for his biographies, including Beethoven (1903), his pacifist articles Above the Battle (1915), and the novel-cycle Jean Christophe (1904–12).
