Sugar Ray Robinson



Robinson, Sugar Ray (Walter Smith; 1921–89), U.S. boxer. Considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, Robinson won the world welterweight title (1946) and the middleweight title (1951). He retired in 1952, but returned in 1955 to regain the middleweight title. In 1958 Robinson won his fifth middleweight title, becoming the first boxer to win a divisional world championship 5 times. He retired in 1965.
