Robin



Robin, vernacular name for various unrelated species of small birds with red breasts. They include the European robin (Erithacus rubecula), American robin (Turdus migratorius), Pekin robin (Leiothrix luted), and Indian robin (Saxicoloides fulicata). Most familiar are the European robin (robin redbreast), an insectivorous thrush noted for its beautiful song, and the American robin, a common garden and woodland bird of the United States.
