Oscar Robertson



Robertson, Oscar (1938– ), U.S. basketball player. Nicknamed the “Big O” and renowned for his passing and scoring ability, Robertson played for the National Basketball Association (NBA) Cincinnati Royals (1960–70) and Milwaukee Bucks (1971–74). His achievements include NBA Rookie of the Year (1961), 4 Most Valuable Player awards—1 regular season (1964) and 3 All-Star (1961, 64, 69), and ranking fourth on the all time regular season scoring list (26,710 career points). Robertson is the only player to average a triple-double (10 or more assists, points, and rebounds per game) for an entire season (1961–62). In 1979 he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
