Riviera, coastal region of the Mediterranean Sea in southeastern France and northwestern Italy. It is a major tourist center, noted for its scenery and pleasant climate. The Riviera's fashionable resorts include Cannes, Nice, and St. Tropez in France; Monte Carlo in Monaco; and Bordighera, Portofino, Rapallo, and San Remo in Italy.
