Riparian rights

Riparian rights, privileges accruing to owners of land on the edges of streams, rivers, and lakes. These “water rights” allow a landowner to use the water for domestic, agricultural, or commercial purposes, usually with the provision that such use should not infringe on the rights of other riparian owners.
