Rhodes Scholarship



Rhodes Scholarship, award instituted (1902) at Oxford University by the bequest of Cecil John Rhodes, English politician and business magnate, for students from the Commonwealth, the United States, and Germany. The scholarship, awarded for 2 and sometimes 3 years, provides the student's university tuition and fees as well as living allowance. Elections are based on general grounds as well as on academic ability.
