Revere

Revere (pop. 42,423), resort suburb on Massachusetts Bay, north of Boston. Primarily a residential city, Revere has popular beach attractions, including a dog-racing track, but little industry. Founded in the late 1620s as Rumney Marsh, it was part of Boston (1632–1739), then Chelsea, until it became the incorporated city of North Chelsea (1846). To honor the celebrated Boston patriot Paul Revere, it was renamed in 1871.
