René of Anjou

René of Anjou (1409–80), duke of Anjou and Provence. He inherited a claim to the kingdom of Naples (1435) but was defeated by Alfonso V of Aragon in 1442. His daughter, Margaret of Anjou, married Henry VI of England. René's court at Angers in France was a brilliant cultural center.
