Reindeer



Reindeer, deer (genus Rangifer) widely distributed in arctic and subarctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North America, closely related to the caribou. Reindeer stand about 3–4 ft (90–120 cm) tall and can weigh up to 400 lb (180 kg). The Lapps of northern Scandinavia have used reindeer for food, clothing, and transportation for centuries.
