Re

Re, or Ra, in Egyptian mythology, the sun god. Worshipped as the creator of the entire earth, Re evolved into the chief deity of ancient Egypt. Many myths and legends came to be associated with Re; early pharaohs claimed to be descended from him. Re has appeared in Egyptian hieroglyphics as the sun, lion, cat, or bird, and is symbolized by a pyramid.
