Maurice Ravel



Ravel, Maurice (1875–1937), French composer, known for his adventurous harmonic style and the combination of delicacy and power in such orchestral works as Rhapsodie Espagnole (1908) and Bolero (1928), and the ballets Daphnis and Chloé (1912) and La Valse (1920). Gaspard de la Nuit (1908) is among his many masterpieces for the piano, his favorite instrument.
