John Crowe Ransom



Ransom, John Crowe (1888–1974), U.S. poet and proponent of the New Criticism, which emphasized textual, rather than social or moral, analysis. Professor of poetry at Kenyon College, Ohio (1937–58), he founded and edited the Kenyon Review (1939–59). His poetry includes Chills and Fever (1924).
