Rafflesia



Rafflesia, genus of parasitic Indonesian plants with the largest flower in the world, up to 1 yd (0.9 m) across. The flower lacks petals but bears broad fleshy sepals. It smells of decaying meat, which attracts flies to pollinate it. It is named for Sir Thomas Raffles, the founder of Singapore.
