Racine



Racine (pop. 84,298), industrial city of southeastern Wisconsin, situated on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Root River. Founded in 1834, it was a major grainshipping area before the railroads were built, and it is still a depot for the dairy and agricultural products of the outlying farm areas. Racine is one of the leading manufacturing cities in Wisconsin.
