Sergei Vassilievich Rachmaninoff



Rachmaninoff, Sergei Vassilievich (1873–1943), Russian composer and virtuoso pianist. After a successful career in Russia he left in 1917, settling in Switzerland (until 1935) and then the United States. His extensive output of piano music, symphonies, songs, and choral music incudes such popular works as Prelude in C Sharp Minor (1892) and Second Piano Concerto (1901).
