Quincy



Quincy (pop. 84,743), city in eastern Massachusetts, the birthplace of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams and an important industrial and shipbuilding center. Situated in Boston Harbor about 8 mi (13 km) south of Boston, Quincy was incorporated in 1888. The Fore River shipyards at Quincy are among the most important in the United States. Other industries include dairy products, gears, riveting machinery, detergents, and television tubes.
