Pyrite



Pyrite, or iron pyrites (FeS2, iron (II) disulfide), hard, yellow, common sulfide known as fool's gold for its resemblance to gold. Of worldwide occurrence, it is an ore of sulfur that crystallizes in the isometric system, usually as cubes. It alters to goethite and limonite.
