Pupfish



Pupfish, about 30 species of fish (genus Cyprinodon) belonging to the killifish family. Pupfish live in the southwestern United States and Mexico, in springs and streams. A few species can tolerate water temperatures of 108°F. (42°C) and thrive in hot springs. Some pupfish are endangered or extinct. Efforts are being made to protect the remaining species.
