Psyllium



Psyllium, herb belonging to the plantain family, Plantagnaceae. Plantango psyllium and P. ovata are common species. An annual, the plant may grow 20 in (51 cm) high. It has narrow leaves, 1–2 ½ in (2.5–6.4 cm) long, and tiny flowers along spikes. Psyllium is cultivated in southern Europe and India for the medicinal, especially laxative, properties of its seeds.
