Book of Proverbs

Proverbs, Book of, book of the Bible's Old Testament; an example of the “wisdom literature” popular in post-exilic Judaism. Its eight sections, attributed in their headings to various authors, including Solomon, consist of numerous pithy proverbs and mostly unconnected moral maxims, probably dating between the 9th and 2nd centuries B.C.
