Profit

Profit, amount of money a company or individual engaged in business makes after all costs have been subtracted. Profit is the chief motivation for the establishment of all businesses in a free enterprise economic system and the goal of all employers and individuals seeking monetary gain. Profits can be increased by keeping production costs, including labor, as low as possible and employers are constantly seeking means of generating greater profits than others engaged in competing businesses and industries.
